We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team at Atlas healthcare Washinton township, a compassionate and care-focused skilled nursing home facility. The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for our residents, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to support the well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation: Prepare a variety of nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in accordance with dietary guidelines, resident preferences, and special dietary restrictions (e.g., low-sodium, low-sugar, gluten-free).
Menu Planning: Assist in planning and implementing daily and weekly menus, considering the nutritional needs and preferences of residents, as well as any special diets.
Food Safety & Sanitation: Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining areas, following all relevant health and safety regulations.
Resident Interaction: Communicate with residents, families, and dietary staff to address food preferences, allergies, and any concerns related to nutrition.
Inventory & Ordering: Assist with inventory management, track food supplies, and assist in ordering food and kitchen supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff and facility team members to ensure smooth operations. Support the dietary team in providing excellent care and meeting the specific needs of the residents.
Special Events & Holidays: Participate in the preparation of special meals for holidays, events, and celebrations for residents.
Record Keeping: Maintain records related to meal preparation, inventory, and food safety compliance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Culinary training or certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, hospital, or nursing home setting.
- Knowledge of dietary needs and restrictions commonly associated with elderly populations.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Compassionate and patient attitude, with a commitment to providing high-quality care to residents.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing menus or dietary requirements.
