Job Description:
As a Clinical Laboratory Technician at ProMedica, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Processing biological specimens for analysis
• Operating instruments and performing procedures within the scope of training
• Maintaining accurate quality control records and communicating effectively with the laboratory and healthcare teams
• Performing routine inquiry and data input on laboratory computer systems
In addition to these key responsibilities, you will also be expected to:
• Recognize equipment malfunctions and act according to established protocols
• Evaluate and solve problems related to specimen collection and processing
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Requirements:
• Doctoral, Master's or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
• Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved by ABHES or CAHEA, or meet an alternate experience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in §493
• American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLS or Categorical eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire
• Ability to move continuously about the hospital and between workstations, tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
