Medical Laboratory Assistant Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at ProMedica. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting laboratory professionals with various tasks, including biological specimen processing and analysis, instrument operation, and quality control record maintenance. You will also be expected to communicate effectively with the laboratory and healthcare teams, and perform routine inquiry and data input on laboratory computer systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist laboratory professionals with biological specimen processing and analysis
• Operate instruments and perform procedures within the scope of training
• Maintain accurate quality control records and communicate effectively with the laboratory and healthcare teams
• Perform routine inquiry and data input on laboratory computer systems
Requirements:
• Associate's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
• Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved by ABHES or CAHEA, or meet an alternate experience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in §493
• American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLT or categorical eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire
• Ability to move continuously about the hospital and between workstations, tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, and lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
