About the Role
This position involves performing routine and complex analytical procedures, recognizing deviations, and providing interpretation following established standards and practices. You will be responsible for maintaining hospital and departmental policies and procedures, as well as complying with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing, including processing biological specimens for analysis and evaluating problems related to specimen collection and processing
- Maintain equipment and perform scheduled maintenance procedures
- Ensure quality control records are accurate and up-to-date, and recognize out-of-control results
- Provide knowledge and resources to the healthcare team, maintaining patient confidentiality
- Enter data into laboratory computer systems and ensure accuracy of information
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a Doctoral, Master's or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or equivalent experience. Certification as an American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLS or Categorical is also required.
