What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Aide - Sterile Processing - Full Time - Nights position at ProMedica?
Supports sterile processing department with the daily workflow tasks: Emptying instrument and cart washers, supporting LDRP and ancillary departments with instrument pickup and delivery, and moving sterilized instruments to storage.
The Sterile Processing Assistant is an integral part of the Sterile Processing Team. This aides focus on the daily routine tasks allows the certified technician to focus on the instrument assembly and sterilization thereby increasing productivity within the department.
Job Requirements
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Empty the Instrument Washers: Scan the tray tag in the instrument tracking system, place the tray in the Drying Cabinet as needed, and move instrument trays to designated staging areas ready for assembly.
2. Empty the Cart Washers: Move carts to the designated staging area. Empty container rack, sort, and store containers for easy access.
3. Deliver and pick up instruments and case carts in the LDRP department.
4. Deliver and pick up instruments in the ancillary departments: Breast Care Center, Interventional Radiology.
5. Scan tray tags in the instrument tracking system and move Sterilized Instrument Trays to Storage locations as directed by the Certified Sterile Processing Technician.
6. Examine stored instrument trays for expiration dates, package defects, or any visible damage that may compromise sterility.
7. Ensure the general cleaning of department surface areas, racks, shelves, storage bins, and all storage areas.

Skills: Basic computer skills.
Years of Experience: Previous healthcare experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Must be able to move about the hospital facility and between workstations. Must be able to frequently move, lift, or carry light to medium-heavy to heavy-weight objects and materials.
