Position Summary:

Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking dedicated and flexible Substitute Teachers to join our team. The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for managing the classroom environment, implementing pre-planned lessons, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role is crucial in maintaining the continuity of instruction and supporting the academic success of our students.

• Instructional Duties:
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the absent teacher.
• Engage students in meaningful learning activities and maintain a productive classroom environment.
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.

• Classroom Management:
• Maintain classroom discipline and ensure a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Address student behavior issues in accordance with school policies.
• Supervise students during class activities, transitions, and on school grounds.

• Communication:
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration.
• Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate school personnel.
• Provide feedback on student performance and behavior to the regular classroom teacher.

• Professional Responsibilities:
• Follow all school policies, rules, and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
• Attend substitute training sessions and professional development as required.

• Education:
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred).

• Experience:
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience in a charter school environment is a plus.

• Skills and Abilities:
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to different classroom settings and subject areas.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.

• Certifications:
• Texas Teaching Certificate preferred but not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
• Ability to respond quickly to student needs and emergencies.
