POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under supervision of the Chief Medical Officer the Gastroenterology is responsible for coordinating, managing and providing care to patients within the scope of gastroenterology. The Gastroenterologist has accountability for the management and treatment of acute and chronic disorders of the digestive system and for delivery of care. The Gastroenterologist maintains the quality of patient care through an on-going process of assessment and care planning, working with other departments to provide coordinated services to the patient.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Examines and diagnoses disorders and diseases of the digestive system.
- Recommends and orders tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition.
- Consults with patients to determine appropriate course of treatment. Professionally present diagnosis, treatment and results to patients and families.
- Uphold patient’s rights and welfare, ensuring patients are not being exploited, such as invasion of privacy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care.
- Refer patients for more specialized treatment as needed.
- Document and evaluate patient’s medical history.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO).
- Successful completion of internal medicine residency (3 years).
- Successful completion of gastroenterology fellowship (3 years).
- Current and valid licensure as a Physician.
- Current and valid DEA registration.
