What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist position at Prometheus Federal Services?
Prometheus Federal Services (PFS), a trusted partner to federal health agencies, has an opening for multiple Pharmacists. Open positions include both inpatient and outpatient Pharmacy tasks. The work will be on-site at the New Mexico VA Health System in Albuquerque, NM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Pharmacist dispenses drugs prescribed by Physicians and other Health Practitioners and provide information to patient(s) about medications and their use.
- Advises Physicians and other Health Practitioners on the selection, dosages, interactions and side effects of the medications.
- Must be able to evaluate provider medication orders for pharmacologic duplications, incompatibilities, side effects, drug-food and drug-drug interactions and allergies.
- Must be able to appropriately address potential therapeutic problems due to inappropriate dose, incorrect strength, inappropriate dosing interval, etc. and effectively communicate questionable therapies to Providers offering reasonable alternatives that adhere to formulary guidelines established in the Computerized Patient Record System.
- Counsels patients and answers questions about prescription drugs, such as those about possible adverse reactions or interactions.
- Gives advice about durable medical equipment and home healthcare supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors of Pharmacy or PharmD from a school accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in either Inpatient or Outpatient Pharmacy
- Active / Unrestricted State Pharmacist License
- BLS Card (American Heart Association)
- Proven ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently
- Authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship (all jobs)
- Ability to obtain a public trust
