PROMISE College and Career Academy – High School Math PROMISE College and Career Academy (PCCA) is a choice high school in Brockton designed for students and families who are seeking a more personalized learning experience. The mission of PCCA is to provide high school students in Brockton with rigorous, relevant, and engaging student-centered learning experiences which prepare them for college, career, and life. PCCA operates on the belief that all students can succeed if a school is designed to meet their individual interests, talents, needs, and learning styles. By placing students at the center of their educational experience and creating modern, flexible structures that set them up for success, PCCA will enable students to reach their potential and live up to their promise. PCCA has been designed with and for students to include: ● Access to rigorous courses that prepare them for college and career. ● Relevant academic experiences that connect to their lives and the community. ● Opportunities to develop meaningful relationships that foster connections so that students feel valued, supported, and cared for in school. The Administrator(s), faculty, and staff of PCCA are invested in their own growth and development to meet the needs of the students and ensure that PCCA realizes its mission. PCCA is designed to include professional development for administrator, faculty and staff that includes training in: Project Based Learning, Competency-based Practices, Advisory, Restorative Practices, Effective Team Building and other training as determined by the needs of the students. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Appropriate DESE educator licensure. 2. Knowledge of Transformative Learning Experiences and Competency-based practices preferred. 3. Knowledge of the Primary Person Model and Restorative Justice practices preferred. 4. Knowledge of Financial Literacy and strategies for cross curricular integration of Financial Literacy Standards preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participate in scheduled professional development over the Summer as well as occasional weekend and/or evening PD. This will take place for 2 days during the third week of August each year at the per diem rate. 2. Potential dual enrollment course collaboration with college professors. 3. Collaborate with PCCA colleagues to develop lessons that meet the needs of a diverse population of students. 4. Deliver standards-based, grade level appropriate, project-based curriculum. 5. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all units and lessons and effectively communicating these objectives to students. 6. Engage in Looking at Student Work protocols to support student growth 7. Analyze data to refine instructional cycles and support the design of PCCA 8. Use competency-based practices to support student learning 9. Contribute to a positive, collaborative school and classroom culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion 10. Serve as a student advisor as part of the Primary Person model. 11. Deliver Enrichment-based activities 12. Work with families and members of the community 13. Communicate regularly with families and caregivers through conferences, phone calls, and email to discuss students’ progress. 14. Administration of all required district and state assessments (unit tests, Star, MCAS, WIDA ACCESS, etc.). 15. Perform other related duties as assigned by the PCCA leadership team.
