GENERAL SUMMARY: The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high- acuity environment. The APP will possess strong clinical skills, excellent decision-making abilities, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED), including assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients across all age groups with a wide range of medical conditions. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, imaging studies, and EKGs. Prescribe medications and manage treatments independently and in collaboration with the attending physician. Stabilize and manage critically ill or injured patients in emergency situations. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care and treatment plans. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental goals for patient safety, efficiency, and satisfaction. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system. Provide patient education and discharge planning, including follow up care instructions and referrals to specialists as necessary. Participating in ongoing HIPAA training and compliance activities as required by the organization. Understanding and strictly following all medical staff services policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient and effective operations.
