Role Overview
The Design team at Promise is searching for a system designer to help build and evolve Plume, our internal design system. This role’s objective is twofold:
- Build foundational components and tokens while designing patterns that scale across the product ecosystem
- Create design patterns at scale by researching and identifying shared opportunities across multiple products
What You'll Do
- Build, maintain, and evolve Plume, our internal design system, across tokens, components, and interaction patterns
- Collaborate with product teams to identify repeatable design solutions, and translate them into systemized assets and documentation
- Work closely with engineering to ensure high-quality implementation of design tokens and components across platforms
- Prototype and document components in Figma, including states, behaviors, and responsive rules
- Build for accessibility from the start, and advocate for inclusive experiences at every level of the system
- Communicate system updates clearly across teams, including rationales grounded in data, brand standards, and accessibility best practices
- Create a collaborative environment that empowers designers and engineers to confidently contribute to and build with the system
- Contribute to the evolution of Promise’s visual language across our product ecosystem
- 4 years of experience designing end-to-end digital experiences, with deep focus on design systems
- Proven track record of building and scaling centralized or distributed design systems—ideally across 4 products
- Deep systems expertise, with the ability to design, implement, and publish tokens, components, and patterns
- Ability to flex between high-level strategic thinking and detailed, hands-on execution
- Strong visual craft and deep attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills—you can clearly articulate decisions and build alignment across stakeholders Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity within complex product environments
- Understanding of the design systems ecosystem and excitement about advancing tooling, workflows, and governance
- Strong technical fluency—able to collaborate closely with engineers and advocate for scalable implementation
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience scaling accessible design practices across platforms
- Experience evolving brand systems within a design system is a strong plus
