JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a member of the multidisciplinary team who is directly involved in providing quality care to patients. CMA's are responsible for providing assistance to the nursing staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes client medical histories, performs and records vital signs and prepares clients for examination.
- Assists with completing Nursing portion of admission process.
- Completes patient assessments and notes.
- Documents and updates Multidisciplinary Records.
- Inputs client related information into medical record systems.
- Transfers clients to Emergency room when appropriate.
- Operates Pyxis machine based on appropriate protocol.
- Assists with laboratory services and facilities routine tests as directed by MD and / or Nurse Practioners.
- Maintains clean and properly stocked examination rooms and equipment.
- Assists with ordering client specific and stock medication and updating inventory.
- Writes, transcribes and reviews orders for non-controlled medications.
- Administers non-controlled medications.
