Promontory is currently operating three courses which include the Pete Dye Canyon Course, the Jack Nicklaus Painted Valley Signature course, and The Hills, a Forrest Richardson designed 18-hole par 3 course.
We are seeking an Irrigation Technician to conduct maintenance and repairs on a Toro irrigation system for the Pete Dye Canyon Course. The individual will report to the Superintendent who oversees all maintenance practices of the golf course. Experience with Toro 700 and 800 series rotors is strongly preferred.
Duties Include –
- Performs preventative maintenance on the irrigation system.
- Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads.
- Properly inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools.
- Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements
- Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, and irrigation control wire.
- Reports any serious irrigation issues to the Superintendent and maintains a daily log of completed repairs.
- Prioritizes irrigation issues and uses time efficiently.
- Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility.
- Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Winter responsibilities will include snow removal throughout Promontory Club parking lots.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS: Vocational training or comparable work experience in irrigation system operation and maintenance. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass a pre – employment background and motor vehicle driving check; must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record to be added to Promontory’s vehicle insurance.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience maintaining golf course irrigation systems; knowledge of Toro irrigation systems, Flotronics pumping systems, Toro 700 series, and WeatherTrack preferred; must have knowledge of VFD (Variable Frequency Drives); Backflow certification highly preferred.
WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON JOB: Abide by Promontory policies and procedures and submit ideas for possible revision; work independently with little supervision; courteous and helpful with Promontory Club Members and employees.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift a maximum of 100lbs; must be willing to work various hours, holidays and weekends.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Wages range from $25/hr - $30/hr and will be commensurate based on experience.
