We are looking for a Food Scientist interested in a career with a top ranked and growing snack company, to join our R&D department at PIM’s Headquarters in Park Ridge, New Jersey. This position will report to our Chief R&D and Production officer.

Overview: 

Applies scientific and engineering principles in research, development, production technology, packaging, processing and utilization of foods. Develop new and improved methods and systems for product processing and production. Studies methods to improve the quality of the manufactured products, such as flavor, color, texture, convenience, or physical, chemical and microbiological composition of the manufactured product. Supports the development of product formulations, evaluation of new products and ingredients. Assists in the definition of process parameters, procedural specifications, shelf life evaluations, coordinates pilot and manufacturing trials, documents trial results and coordinates product start-ups. Tests new products in the laboratory and develops specific processing methods and interacts with the process engineer, QA/QC, production management, packaging and marketing leaders to resolve problems.

Qualifications

Job Description:

• Benchmarking, pilot development and formulation of snack products.
• Product testing; physical, chemical, analytical, sensory and shelf-life testing.
• Strong focus on delivery and results.
• Preparation of SOPs for new products developed.
• Develop product formulations and work on prototypes.
• Evaluate and approve ingredients.
• Test and define procedures and processing parameters.
• Coordinate pilot plant trials and manufacturing scale up process.
• Explore and test improvements in existing products.
• Establish procedures.
• Document technical information and prepare reports for trials.
• Coordinate production start-up and assist in providing technical support.
• Identify understanding of how products will in normal plant conditions.

Qualifications Requirements:

• Food Scientist: Bachelor's degree in food science or related field with 2 Years of experience in a related industry
• Sr. Food Scientist: Master's degree in food science or related field with 5 years of experience developing snacking or confections products.
• Sr. Food Scientist: PhD Degree in Food Science with 10 years of Research and Development experience in Confections.

Worksite: 

• The PIM Brands Global Headquarters in Park Ridge, New Jersey
• The role requires working on-site: Monday thru Friday. 
• Summer Fridays between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend
• Estimated <10% to manufacturing locations, trade shows, retailer/broker/customer business reviews, etc.
