THE ORGANIZATION
Founded in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, United Latinos is a community organizing network dedicated to expanding civic engagement and building power for Latinos and other marginalized communities. We focus on equity issues, building solutions that benefit historically underserved communities, and creating coalitions with groups committed to an inclusive and thriving Sacramento area. Our mission is to empower community leaders through civic engagement and advocacy to improve the quality of life in the Sacramento area, with a vision of full Latino participation in education, civic, and electoral processes.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Executive Director is a part-time, limited-term exempt position with at-will employment status, with the potential to transition into a full-time, permanent role. The Executive Director will provide strategic direction and leadership to United Latinos, managing day-to-day operations and guiding policy development in alignment with the Board of Directors’ goals and under their direction.
This part-time role offers an annual salary ranging from $37,000 to $50,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership to guide programmatic, organizational, and financial initiatives in collaboration with the Board of Directors, ensuring clear communication and alignment between the board, executive leadership, and staff.
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, investments, staff payments, and vendor management. Lead grant writing, fundraising, and financial strategies to ensure the organization’s sustainability.
- Manage staff roles and responsibilities, fostering an inclusive work environment that promotes staff development, retention, and performance coaching.
- Oversee organizational operations, including technology policies, ensuring tools for efficient fundraising, collaboration, and record-keeping.
- Represent the organization in public relations, external communications, and special events, building and maintaining long-term partnerships with stakeholders.
- Identify and address internal and external organizational challenges as they arise, ensuring smooth operations and organizational success.
- All other duties assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role, with proven experience managing organizational operations, financial planning, and human resources.
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing, fundraising, and budget management.
- Experience collaborating with diverse communities and fostering inclusive, culturally competent work environments.
- Prior experience in advocacy, civic engagement, and community organizing is highly desirable.
