Full time Physician Assistants & Nurse Practitioners
PromptMed Urgent Care (www.MyPromptMed.com) is currently seeking experienced Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to care for adults and children (ages six months and older) in the company’s Antioch, Gurnee/ Waukegan, and Highland Park locations located in Illinois. Shifts consist of 12-hour (weekday) or 8-hours (weekend), with no call or graveyard shifts. This opportunity affords working in a brand new, fully-equipped urgent care medical facility, which includes electronic medical records, an onsite digital X-ray suite and laboratory, and fully functional exam and procedure rooms. The PA/NP, working in collaboration with the company’s Medical Director, functions autonomously with a team of clinical support staff which includes Radiologic Technologists, Medical Assistants, Front Desk Receptionists and an Office Manager.

The Company operates a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art licensed medical facility, utilizing the latest procedures and technologies, and is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-8:00pm, and Saturday/Sunday from 9:00am-5:00pm, 363 days/year.

We serve patients in Highland Park, Antioch, Lindenhurst, Grayslake, Fox Lake, Round Lake Beach, Waukegan, Gurnee, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville, North Chicago, Zion, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Round Lake, Deerfield, Lake Villa, Buffalo Grove and the surrounding Lake County, IL area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and treat urgent, emergent, and non-urgent patient needs within an urgent care setting in collaboration with the Medical Director.
  • Exercise autonomy in medical decision-making while providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Ensure proper diagnosis, handling and recovery of all patients treated.
  • Order and perform tests, procedures, labs, injections, referrals and prescribe necessary medications.
  • Perform minor outpatient surgical procedures such as wound closure and management, incision and drainage, and needle biopsy.
  • Apply and modify braces, casts, splints, and other orthopedic appliances.
  • Order, collect and perform appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies, such as routine laboratory tests, electrocardiograms, and radiological examinations.
  • Communicate patient needs, diagnosis, and course of treatment to the patient and other clinical staff, and instruct and educate patients about discharge instructions, if applicable.
  • Create an individualized plan of care based on physical, psychosocial and age specific assessments of the patient, as well as patient’s input and history.
  • Manage and delegate work appropriately to other caregivers and insure accuracy of delegated work and appropriate supervision of support staff.
  • Maintain adequate patient flow on-site by directing and assisting clinical staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation and follow recognized documentation and coding practices.
  • Effectively manage private, pre-employment and workers compensation patients.
  • Attend required leadership and staff meetings and serve as a resource for other clinical staff.
  • Maintain certification and continuing education as required by the State of Illinois.
  • Assume a leadership role in professional activities and organizations and advance the company through presentations, publications and community involvement.
  • Accept and assume responsibility for special projects as they arise and all other duties assigned.
  • Follow regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduated and received a Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program or Advanced Nurse Practitioner Program and received/maintained certification.
  • Must possess a current license as an Advance Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois and an Illinois controlled substance license and DEA registration with prescription privileges.
  • Ideally 2 years of practicing PA/NP experience, preferably in an urgent care setting.
  • Must be able to be successfully credentialed with Medicare and other payers.
  • Comfortable treating patients ages 6 months and older.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic ER, internal medicine, generalist, occupational medicine, and family practice procedures.
  • Skilled in patient assessment and management with proven excellence in quality and clinical standards.
  • Excellent bedside manner, strong people skills and a positive attitude/personality.
  • Maintain an intense work ethic and be able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Urgent care and/or emergency department experience preferred, but not required.
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certification or ability to acquire.
  • DOT (NRCME) certification a plus, but not required.
  • Experience or familiarity with Velocidoc EMR a plus, but not required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail and leadership qualities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously collaborate with patients and families, management, clinical staff and physicians.
  • Knowledge of computer functions and ability to navigate electronic medical record system.
  • Organizational and analytical skills necessary to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient and employer information.
  • Ability to adjust responsibilities to accommodate a fast-paced work environment while maintaining excellent customer service and staff interaction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
