Proof S&E is the exclusive food & beverage provider for DUKE athletics and the daily Athlete Dining area. We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead the hospitality food & beverage operations at DUKE University including suites and clubs during game-day, catering events, and the daily student athlete Training Table.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Take the lead on overseeing all aspects of the catering operations/team events service execution – including set-up & layout in collaboration with the catering director and GM
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Coordinate multiple components of catering & events programs including equipment, pantries, set-ups, and labor management.
- Interview, train, schedule, and motivate staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and guiding work assignments.
- Attend events to ensure professional level of service delivery, safety, and instruction.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of all supplies, and pass info onto the chef so orders are placed.
- Manage and supervise catering or training table staff collaborate with GM or Catering director on planning including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food handling guidelines
- Assist in event execution planning and development, taking into consideration customer preferences and event differences
- Coordinate and communicate with clients to ensure that events are executed according to their specifications and expectations
- Contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and sales strategies to increase business and attract new client
- Bring creativity and fresh ideas to improve our programs
- Assess training and in-service needs in area of specialty collaborate with GM & Catering Director to provide consultation and arrange/facilitate training and seminars
- Maintain proper par level for China, Glassware, Flatware & maintain proper storage of these items
- Foster a cooperative work environment and build on employee engagement programs

Qualifications
Experience & Specialized Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Ability to lead and manage a team of event staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to manage labor so events are able to meet financial goals
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and catering management software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- This position requires long hours with demanding job duties
- Hours can range based on event, but expect to work 10-15 hours/day
- Must be comfortable with onsite work in Raleigh, NC

Work Environment
The work environment for this position will be a variation of front of house, back of house, warehouse, and storage areas. This position will often move throughout campus stadiums and travel throughout the university grounds. Events may take place in indoor or outdoor settings.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of movement, moving through a limited space, and walking on various surfaces
- Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items
- Must have ability to frequently lift up to 60 lbs, push 150 pounds, and bend, lift, and carry product and equipment constantly
Compensation & Benefits
- This is considered a full-time hourly position. Hours may fluctuate based on business needs.
