The Import Operations Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating the importation of goods via air or sea. This includes overseeing all necessary documentation, scheduling, and communication with customers and third-party service providers. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Importation Processes: Oversee the importation of goods by air and/or sea, including scheduling with airlines and managing the movement of goods through various transportation channels.
- Documentation Management: Prepare and process necessary documentation for customs clearance, such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
- Shipment Tracking & Customer Communication: Monitor and track shipments, providing regular status updates to customers and proactively addressing any concerns or delays.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and resolving any issues that may arise during the import process.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including logistics, finance, and operations, to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations, including customs requirements, trade laws, and industry standards.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations for cost and rate analysis. Experience with logistics software and systems is a plus.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of air and sea freight logistics, customs regulations, and trade laws.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
