The Test Pad Technician is responsible for testing power generation equipment to ensure it meets customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. This role involves the operation, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of test equipment, as well as accurate documentation and communication of test results.
Roles & Responsibilities
Product Testing:
Conduct functional and performance testing on power generation units, evaluating strength, density, durability, and conformance to specifications.
Follow established procedures and safety protocols during all test operations.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
Monitor gauges, meters, monitors, and diagnostic software to verify operating conditions.
Identify and report product deficiencies or malfunctions to supervisors or relevant operators.
Troubleshoot issues using OEM diagnostic tools and software.
Process Adjustments & Maintenance:
Make necessary machine or system adjustments to maintain optimal test conditions.
Perform routine maintenance on test stands to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
Documentation & Reporting:
Accurately record test data, observations, and production information.
Complete all required reports, logs, and checklists in a timely manner.
Safety & Workplace Standards:
Adhere to and promote safe work practices at all times.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Lead by example in upholding all safety policies and procedures.
Team Support & Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with team members and support production goals and company objectives.
Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance job performance.
Assist in installation inspections and ensure quality workmanship in all assigned areas.
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management team.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in mechanical or electrical systems is an asset.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or test environment, preferably with power generation or industrial equipment.
Specific Skills
- Read & interpret blueprints/drawing specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of power systems.
- Proficiency in reading gauges, schematics, and test documentation.
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and basic computer use.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Operate general hand tools, air tools, and power tools for assembly and installation tasks.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment, including measurement devices, multimeters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, and voltmeters, to perform diagnostic and assembly work accurately.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
