Reporting to the President and serving as an integral member of the management team, the VP of Finance is responsible for planning, directing and controlling financial and administrative functions for the development of financial management strategy, IT outsourcing strategy, and contributing to the development of the organization’s strategic goals.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee financial planning, corporate budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling and cash flow.
2. Oversee the preparation, analysis and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual operating results.
3. Work capital management to align with business and in collaboration with the TYCROP group of brands
4. Act as an advisor to the President to help the executive chart a path towards greater profitability
5. Continually improve, update and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization through the implementation of financial policies, systems and procedures.
6. Evaluate financial reporting systems, group structure, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior managers and executives.
7. Oversee and coordinate the annual review engagement, ensuring it runs smoothly, and externally prepared financial statements are produced in a timely fashion.
8. Facilitate banking, insurance, and regulatory authority relationships to ensure alignment with the company’s needs & objectives, and in coordination with the CFO.
9. Participate in and support organizational restructures and growth.
10. Recommend benchmarks and metrics for measuring the financial and operating performance of the company and managing key risks.
11. Identify and analyze ideas / systems to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and value creation within the finance department and organization
12. Foster a culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvements to achieve long – term strategic objectives.
Education and Experience :
- Professional accounting designation or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a lead financial role in a manufacturing industry environment.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of corporate accounting and financial management
- Financial analysis and some strategic planning experience
- Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel including queries and pivot tables
- Experience with SYSPRO an asset
