Propeller Building Services Inc., a growing HVAC and Plumbing home services group, is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in construction accounting, cost accounting, and project management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, ServiceTitan, Bill.com, ADP Run, Payroll4Construction and other accounting systems. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of full cycle accounting, mergers & acquisitions accounting, tax preparation, monthly financial reporting, and strict adherence to accounting processes. This position is remote with CT business hours preferred. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of accounting in collaboration with and reporting to the Director of Finance. 
• Actively participate in day-to-day activities such as journal entries, reclassifications, accrual & prepaid management and reconciliations. 
• Produce efficiencies and recreation in processes and control. 
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close. 
• Implement and maintain cost accounting systems to track project profitability. 
• Manage and streamline construction accounting processes, including job costing, WIP schedules, and 
• revenue recognition. 
• Demonstrate strong cross-functionality across a platform of at least 10 entities. 
• Provide extensive support in the budgeting process across the enterprise. 
• Maintain compliance with tax regulations and support tax preparation efforts. 
• Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial tracking of 
• projects. 
• Initiate and track transitional accounting cycles pre & post-acquisition to include onboarding, historical catch-up and accrual method data conversions. 
• Supervise and improve the use of QuickBooks Online, ServiceTitan, and Bill.com for efficient financial management. 
• Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets. 
• Provide financial insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, published reporting integrity and all historical accounting activities. 

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred). 
• 5 years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role within the construction industry. 
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and construction accounting best practices. 
• Demonstrated ability to support an enterprise budgeting process. 
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, ServiceTitan, and Bill.com. 
• Background in mergers & acquisitions integration accounting. 
• Experience with tax preparation, financial reporting, and compliance. 
• Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This is a remote position.

Compensation: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
