Introducing The Shelborne by Proper, a holistic restoration of the iconic Miami beachfront hotel — re-opening in 2025. This extensive renovation will preserve the landmark’s 1940 art deco distinction and authentic charm while modernizing interiors from top to bottom — all embracing the rich heritage originally crafted by Morris Lapidus and Igor Polevitzky, two of the most celebrated Art Deco architects of the mid-twentieth century.
The Shelborne will introduce four vibrant new food & beverage destinations to the neighborhood, each suited for warm weather dining, with an all-day signature restaurant, a lobby bar- lounge, and curated cafe. Resort amenities include a spacious pool and lush garden lounge, indoor-outdoor cabanas, sundeck terrace, state-of-the-art fitness center, dedicated access to a private beach club, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting & event space.
Job Overview
The Food Runner plays a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by ensuring the seamless flow of food from the kitchen to our guests. This position requires precision, attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in service. Key Responsibilities:
Service & Guest Experience
Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests promptly and accurately
- Present dishes with knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods and dietary modifications
- Assist servers in ensuring tables are properly set, maintained and cleared throughout service
- Anticipate guest needs, providing exceptional service and addressing any special requests
Uphold the highest standards of hospitality, engaging guests with warmth and professionalism
Operational Excellence
Maintain open communication with the culinary and service teams to ensure smooth coordination
- Ensure food presentation meets our luxury standards before serving
- Handle special dietary requests and allergy precautions with care and accuracy
- Assist with expediting service during peak dining hours
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including service stations and kitchen pass areas
Team Collaboration
Work closely with servers, bartenders and chefs to ensure seamless service
- Support fellow team members by running drinks, resetting tables and providing assistance as needed
Contribute to pre-shift meetings, offering insights to enhance service efficiency
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in a fine-dining or luxury hospitality environment preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety, handling and sanitation standards
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced setting
- Passion for hospitality and delivering outstanding guest experiences
Must be able to stand, walk and carry trays for extended periods
