This extensive renovation will preserve the landmark’s 1940 art deco distinction and authentic charm while modernizing interiors from top to bottom — all embracing the rich heritage originally crafted by Morris Lapidus and Igor Polevitzky, two of the most celebrated Art Deco architects of the mid-twentieth century.
The Shelborne will introduce four vibrant new food & beverage destinations to the neighborhood, each suited for warm weather dining, with an all-day signature restaurant, a lobby bar- lounge, and curated cafe. Resort amenities include a spacious pool and lush garden lounge, indoor-outdoor cabanas, sundeck terrace, state-of-the-art fitness center, dedicated access to a private beach club, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting & event space.
Job Overview
The Receiving Agent plays a crucial role in the daily operations of The Shelborne, ensuring the seamless receipt, inspection and distribution of all deliveries while upholding the hotel’s commitment to luxury service and excellence. This position is responsible for verifying the quality, quantity and accuracy of incoming shipments, maintaining inventory records and coordinating with various departments to ensure timely availability of goods and supplies. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized and committed to maintaining the highest standards in hospitality operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inspection
Receive and inspect all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and invoices
- Verify quality, quantity and condition of goods, immediately reporting discrepancies or damaged items
Ensure all perishable items are handled and stored according to health and safety regulations
Inventory & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of received goods and update inventory management systems accordingly
- Tag and label items as needed, ensuring proper documentation and storage procedures
Assist in conducting regular inventory audits and cycle counts
Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with vendors, purchasing and accounting teams to resolve any order discrepancies
- Communicate with relevant departments (culinary, housekeeping, engineering, etc.) regarding deliveries and inventory levels
Work closely with the culinary team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and beverage products
Compliance & Safety
Ensure receiving area and storage spaces are kept clean, organized and compliant with safety and sanitation regulations
- Follow proper procedures for handling and storing hazardous materials
Adhere to hotel sustainability initiatives by managing waste reduction and recycling efforts
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in receiving, purchasing or inventory management, preferably in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and work in a physically demanding environment
- Proficiency in inventory management software and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, POS systems)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of food safety handling and storage regulations is a plus
