Introducing The Shelborne by Proper, a holistic restoration of the iconic Miami beachfront hotel — re-opening in 2025. This extensive renovation will preserve the landmark’s 1940 art deco distinction and authentic charm while modernizing interiors from top to bottom — all embracing the rich heritage originally crafted by Morris Lapidus and Igor Polevitzky, two of the most celebrated Art Deco architects of the mid-twentieth century.
The Shelborne will introduce four vibrant new food & beverage destinations to the neighborhood, each suited for warm weather dining, with an all-day signature restaurant, a lobby bar- lounge, and curated cafe. Resort amenities include a spacious pool and lush garden lounge, indoor-outdoor cabanas, sundeck terrace, state-of-the-art fitness center, dedicated access to a private beach club, and more than 15,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting & event space.
Job Overview
The Steward plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization and efficiency of our kitchen. This individual will be responsible for washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment and ensuring a sanitary environment that upholds the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, dishware, cookware and utensils
- Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely
- Assist with deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, floors and food preparation areas
- Dispose of trash, recyclables and food waste following hotel sustainability initiatives
- Stock and organize kitchen supplies, ensuring all necessary items are readily available for the culinary team
- Follow all safety and hygiene regulations in compliance with hotel policies and health department standards
- Support the culinary team as needed, including assisting with basic prep work
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to maintain a seamless and professional work environment
Qualifications & Requirements
Prior experience as a steward, dishwasher or in a similar role preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player with a positive attitude
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
