Overview
This technical position involves performing parcel maintenance using electronic methods to prepare maps for the Office of the Property Appraiser. This work is based on legal descriptions, subdivision maps, parcel maps, records of survey, deeds, and other legal documents. The role requires advanced knowledge of land surveying and real property assessment practices. Employees in this classification support the PA Senior Cadastralist by carrying out various technical cadastral engineering tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have three years of experience in cadastral (parcel) mapping or in supporting geographic information systems. This experience can include producing graphics, mapping, related support, drafting, or surveying. Alternatively, candidates may have a high school diploma or GED, three years of experience in reading complex property legal descriptions, examining ownership records, plotting legal descriptions, or GIS mapping within the Property Appraiser’s Office, along with completing two courses toward the Cadastral Mapping Specialist (CMS) certification or the Certified Cadastralist of Florida (CCF) from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO).
