Accountant Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management. This role involves assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for monthly close.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Perform variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies.
- Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable:
- Process and review invoices, ensuring proper coding and approvals.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in billing, collections, and cash application processes.
- Bank & Account Reconciliations:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding issues.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and accounts.
- Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting:
- Assist in preparing sales & use tax filings and other regulatory reports.
- Support the preparation of corporate tax filings and audits.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Support:
- Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights for decision-making.
- Process Improvement & Internal Controls:
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in QuickBooks
- Strong Excel skills
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently or in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance regulations.
