Propulsion Controls Engineering has a current opening at our San Diego, California location for an experienced Marine Electrician Leadperson , with a minimum of 8-10 plus years experience in the ship repair industry / military. PCE is a full service electro-mechanical repair and diesel repair contractor. PCE has garnered a wealth of extensive experience in successfully executing major system overhauls across numerous ports throughout the world on virtually every class of ship currently in operation.
Positon Summary :
Perform and may lead crew engaged in electrical work in and around ship repair industry. Troubleshoot, repair, improve and build electrical components of ships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists supervisor and / or manager in performing and leading a crew engaged in electrical work in and around ships.
- Perform and lead crew in inspecting, correcting, repairing and overhauling electrical equipment on marine equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning electrical equipment, determine replacement needs or new material required, develop logical approach to correct the problem and install updated equipment.
- Figure layout installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
- Receive and examine wiring diagrams, drawings and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs, calibrate, service and replace electronic devices and systems.
- Lay-out, pull, lift and install cables and conduit as needed.
- Test electrical equipment and low and high-voltage circuit systems for safety and in accordance with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning electrical equipment
- May attend production, planning and / or progress meetings as needed.
- Ensure safety practices and procedures are adhered to.
- Supports and may provide employee on the job training and technical support.
