We are thrilled to collaborate with the Southern Maine Agency on Aging (SMAA) in the search for their next Chief Financial Officer. This is an exciting phase of growth and opportunity for the organization.

The Chief Financial Officer will be the key leader responsible for overseeing all financial operations at SMAA. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will collaborate closely with the leadership team and the Board of Directors to create and implement strategic initiatives across the organization. As a vital member of SMAA's leadership team, the CFO will guide and optimize the finance and administrative framework to adapt to the changing landscape of a dynamic and results-oriented organization, driving significant growth over the next 3 to 5 years.
The CFO will ensure that SMAA has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The CFO will oversee all day-to-day finance operations and support all compliance and recognition for government (Federal and State) grants and private foundation grants. The CFO manages a team of three and has responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants management.

Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; oversee all financial, project / program and grants accounting
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in partnership with the leadership team
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintain internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures
- Coordinate audits. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
Business Planning
Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines
Leadership & Communications
Administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
Engage the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors to develop long-term financial plans and projections
Grants Management
Qualifications
Highly organized, with strong time management skills
Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments
Exercise a high degree of integrity in managing confidential and sensitive information
