Isabella County APA III – Senior Level Position

The Isabella County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is looking for an attorney with at least three years of experience in criminal law or prosecution who is passionate about serving their community and making a difference within the criminal justice system.

An APA III primarily handles felony-level prosecutions of major crimes, while also having the opportunity to supervise and mentor APA I and APA II positions within the office.

Isabella County is located squarely in Central Michigan, with offices located in downtown Mt. Pleasant, MI. Mt. Pleasant is home to Central Michigan University and the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, frequently hosting some of the country’s most popular singers, concerts, and comedian acts. In addition to being home to a Division One college and thriving casino and resort, Isabella County is home to several golf courses, parks, and lakes for the outdoor enthusiast.

General Job Duties: Reviewing and authorizing requests for warrants, determining the appropriate charge(s), and prosecuting criminal cases. Applicants will be required to negotiate cases to reach a plea agreement, prepare legal motions, answer defense motions, prepare search warrants, advise law enforcement on legal issues, and prepare witnesses for trial and try cases before a judge or jury. As well as joining the on-call rotation with six other APAs.

Requirements:

• Three to five years of criminal law or prosecution experience and any supervisory roles should also be noted in the application or cover letter.
• Graduate of an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan,
• Member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar.
• A valid Michigan driver’s license.

Starting Salary:

• $81,291 – 98,903
• On-Call Compensation
