Position: Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Department: Prosecutor’s Office
Hours of Work: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.50 Hours per Week)
Beginning Wage: $72,174.95 – $90,129.00, with benefits
Benefits:

- Two (2) personal days per year, upon first anniversary.
- After 90 days, eligible to convert up to five (5) sick days per year to personal days.

- Defined compensation plan – 7% county contribution. No required employee match.

General Summary: The Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney is under the direction of the County Prosecutor. This position is responsible for reviewing police reports; determining whether charges shall be brought, authorization of warrants; preparation and presentation of case for preliminary examinations, pre-trials and trials; sentence recommendations; post-conviction motions; preparation of appellate briefs and arguments; probation violations; legal research and furnishes legal advice to county personnel and the Department of Human Services.
This position also represents the Prosecuting Attorney on matters of procedural determination and operating polices in the Prosecutor’s absence.
Qualifications/Skilled Required: Education: Law Degree from an accredited College or University Experience: A minimum two (2) years of experience as a prosecuting attorney. License to practice law in the State of Michigan. Experience in professional legal work, including experience in legal research, preparation for trials and trial experience.
Other Requirements: Valid Michigan’s Driver’s License. Must pass background check and must pass drug screenings required by Sanilac County.
