Duties

The DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office is looking to hire 2 Attorneys to work in our State Court Traffic Division. Duties Include but are not limited to:

• Prepare and Review evidence, accident reports, and citations related to traffic offenses.
• Research applicable laws and statutes to ensure proper charges are filed.
• Prepare case files, including witness statements, police reports, and any other documentation relevant to the case.
• Represent the government in traffic court hearings and trials.
• Present evidence and argue cases in front of judges, ensuring that the facts and the law support the prosecution.
• Cross-examine defense witnesses and challenge evidence presented by the defense.
• Engage in negotiations with defense attorneys to reach plea agreements, which may involve reduced charges or penalties.
• Make recommendations to the judge regarding sentencing and penalties, based on the seriousness of the offense and the defendant’s history.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications: Juris Doctorate Degree required; one year of experience in criminal justice, legal, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; and must possess and maintain licensure from the Georgia State Bar Association

Salary Range: $90k-$105K
