Job Summary:
The Safety Officer ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations and company policies during subcontracted installation work on active construction sites. They are responsible for enforcing safety standards, verifying that personnel are properly trained, monitoring site conditions, and escalating violations as needed. This role requires extensive interaction with key internal and external stakeholders to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None, but will oversee compliance and enforce safety requirements among site personnel.
Duties/ Responsibilities: Site Safety Compliance & Oversight:
- Monitors and enforces compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific requirements, maintaining records of violations and corrective actions.
- Verifies that employees have received required safety training ( OSHA 10 or 30 as needed, fall protection, crane safety, etc.) and holds them accountable for compliance.
- Coordinates with general contractors, other subcontractors, and site safety teams to enforce compliance, address shared safety concerns, and align safety protocols with project requirements. Communicates safety compliance issues and escalations to internal management as needed.
Training Compliance & Enforcement:
- Confirms that workers are properly trained before engaging in tasks requiring safety certifications.
- Identifies gaps in adherence and enforces corrective actions, including retraining or escalating safety violations as needed.
- Reinforces understanding of Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP) and Emergency Action Plans (EAP) among site personnel.
Inspections & Audits:
- Conducts full time site safety audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify hazards.
- Inspects and ensures proper use of safety equipment (harnesses, lanyards, scaffolding, rigging, PPE, crane safety plans, etc.).
- Reports deficiencies, tracks corrective actions, and ensures documentation of safety improvements for regulatory compliance.
- Maintains compliance records, safety logs, and violation reports.
Incident & Risk Management:
- Investigates workplace accidents, near misses, and safety violations.
- Documents findings and recommends corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Works with site management and subcontractors to improve hazard mitigation strategies.
Cranes & Heavy Equipment Safety:
- Monitors compliance with crane operations, rigging, and load-handling safety standards.
- Ensures proper signaling, communication, and coordination during lifting operations.
- Verifies that operators and riggers are working within safety guidelines.
Other Duties:
- Performs additional safety-related tasks as required by site conditions or company leadership.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards including fall protection, crane & crane related lifting activities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to assess training compliance and enforce corrective actions.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong ability to enforce safety policies and escalate violations appropriately.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
· OSHA 30 required.
· One year of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to physically maneuver across active construction sites, including uneven terrain, dirt surfaces, and partially completed structures.
· Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary, including using fall protection as required.
· Prolonged periods of standing, moving, and working around heavy equipment and materials without motorized assistance.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds for safety inspections and equipment checks.
This is a 3 to 6 month contract job.

Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour
