Reporting to the Partner Accounting Supervisor, this global position will assist in the preparation of a wide array of partnership accounting activities for the Firm including Partner earnings, Partner mobility and productivity reporting, related balance sheet management, recommendations for procedural improvements, and development of effective business relationships.
Responsibilities
- Develop an effective “business partner” relationship with Accounting/Finance Managers and other global functional teams
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations for partner's equity accounts
- Prepare monthly partner draw and Guaranteed Salary payments, as well as sporadic Special Distribution calculations incorporating data from multiple sources throughout the Firm
- Prepare calculations for partner withdrawals and retirements, lateral partner transfers, interest on capital, and annual capital contributions
- Participate in operational activities with a specific focus on efficiency and client service
- Track and report Partner Receivables (or payables), including personal charges
- Participate in the recording of monthly journal entries, and analysis of balance sheet accounts
- Participate in worldwide year-end audit
- Assist with the annual equity close-out process for the global partnership
- Maintain and oversee Partner Accounting Mailbox
- Administration of policies and procedures documentation on Partnership Accounting activities
- Assist with special projects as required
Qualifications
- Strong academic credentials and Bachelor’s degree, with a major in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 3 years of experience in professional services environment
- A CPA or on the CPA track preferred
- Strong Finance acumen: Demonstrated broad experience across major finance disciplines.
- An excellent communicator who is effective at all levels; an individual who listens carefully, articulates positions clearly, and conveys confidence
- Well organized, can work independently, establishes priorities, plans realistically and is available to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines as needed
- A team player who shares credit for accomplishments with others and keeps the Firm's best interests foremost
- Cultural awareness and adaptability are needed in order to collaborate with international teams
- Attention to details and critical self-review are a must
- Being agile and capable to work under pressure
This position will require physical presence in Proskauer’s offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated base compensation for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 per year. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
