Proskauer is seeking a Director of Sourcing & Procurement who will play a pivotal role in assessing and managing our procurement function. This senior position requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in procurement and contract negotiation, coupled with legal expertise. The Director will lead efforts to ensure optimal relationships with third-party vendors, while effectively evaluating contracts and mitigating risks through collaborative engagement with in-house counsel.
Responsibilities
Recommend and implement strategies for a world class strategic procurement program that maximizes cost saving opportunities while minimizing risk.
Partner with internal stakeholders to strengthen service delivery, ensuring proactive collaboration, strategic input, and clear communication to advance stakeholder objectives.
Lead the negotiation processes with third-party vendors to secure optimal pricing, terms, and service levels.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure responsiveness and quality of service delivery.
Evaluate vendor contracts for compliance, risk exposure, and alignment with the firm’s strategic goals.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of legal and financial terms to protect the firm's interests.
Liaise with in-house legal counsel to facilitate timely and effective legal reviews of risk-prone contracts.
Coordinate the flow of information between procurement and legal departments to streamline the contract review process.
Monitor market trends and conduct cost analyses to inform procurement strategies and enhance the firm's competitive advantage.
Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.
Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
Establish performance metrics and reporting procedures to measure procurement effectiveness and vendor performance.
Present procurement reports and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies in all procurement activities.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience managing procurement functions, ideally within a large law firm or corporate legal environment.
Proven track record of negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract law, and risk management.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and develop a high performing team
This position will require physical presence in Proskauer’s offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation range for this position is $250,000 - $350,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
