Job Summary
The Right of Way Agent is responsible for acquiring property rights to construct, operate, and maintain a specific project. This agent will assist in landowner and permit agency negotiations for the acquisition of real estate right-of-way.
Duties/Responsibilities
The Right of Way Agent will spend a significant amount of time working in the field, using a computer and other standard office equipment. This position may also require significant travel to client locations, meeting with landowners and other designated locations to conduct job duties. Right of Way Agents may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and may utilize light lifting for carrying documents or equipment.

- Negotiate property agreements and secure legal permissions for land usage.
- Drafting any required documentation/contracts for property rights acquisition.
- Mediating and negotiating agreements.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Cold calling and meeting with landowners for the purpose of gaining right-way access.
- Consult with landowners and resolve any concerns or disputes related to property acquisition.
- Work in coordination with surveyors, engineers, and other team members.
- High School Diploma or equivalent minimum; preferred bachelor’s degree in real estate, business administration, or related field.
- Proven work experience as a Right of Way Agent, Real Estate Agent, or similar role.
- Strong negotiation skills and proven ability to resolve disputes.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex/detailed data, including legal descriptions, appraisals, surveys, and engineering maps/drawings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positing can-do attitude and resolution orientation and willingness to engage in a collaborative process.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
