Role of this position within the company
ProSpace Interiors, Inc. is a commercial office furniture dealer located in Grand Junction and Delta, Colorado. The position of Designer / Furniture Space Planner is a critical position to our team working on furniture projects from inception through project completion and installation. This scope includes working with sales staff and end users from the beginning conceptualization of a project, through product specification, space planning and quoting with the use of AutoCAD, CET & Spec Software.
Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, maintaining the materials library, order entry process, completion of RFP bid packages, site visits, finish selections and creating installation drawings.

This is a non-smoking work environment. This position requires a Valid CO driver's license and a good driving record to be approved by our insurance carrier. This is a Non-Remote, Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Salaried position. Regular work hours are from 7:00am-5:30pm with a 1/2-hour lunch period, Monday through Thursday at our Grand Junction showroom location (Delta location available if preferred after initial training). Any work hours over the standard 40-hour work week must have prior approval by a company officer or designated supervisor and any compensatory time will be determined.
Essential functions and requirements
· Furniture Space Planning/Design: Receive and review projects from the sales staff utilizing AutoCAD & CET software for space planning and product specification; provide 2D and 3D images and/or renderings in an aesthetically pleasing presentation. After customer review, make revisions with feedback from the customer and/or sales staff, provide color and finish selection on select projects.
· Product Specification & Quoting: Responsible for accurate price quotes using Spec Software based upon the product specified. Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of all vendors/suppliers’ products, price structures and freight programs.
· Order Entry: Upon order approval, the Designer is responsible for processing the order within Khameleon Software and submitting purchase orders to vendors. This also includes reviewing vendor acknowledgements for accuracy.
· Miscellaneous: Work with other departments as assigned by the supervisor. Attend client meetings with the sales staff as requested to increase communication and become better informed about a project. Maintain literature and vendor libraries. Put together brochures and flyers utilizing graphic design techniques.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a related field is preferred. Relevant design experience will also be considered.
- 2-3 years experience in related field preferred.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or Canva preferred.
- Knowledge of Khameleon, Configura CET and SPEC is preferred.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Knowledge of design and space planning principles and ability to apply this knowledge to projects.
- Computer skills to convert, receive, send, save electronic files.
- Must maintain flexibility in a continuously changing and fast paced work environment.
- Communication and diplomacy skills to provide courteous and professional interaction with customers, contractors, co-workers, supervisor, and sales and administrative staff.
- Ability to write clearly and legibly so that written materials will be understood.
- Ability to self-evaluate your position as a Representative of the Company with clean and presentable business attire.
- Skill to review and understand floor plan layouts.
- Skill to analyze and order necessary parts & pieces as specified for a project, using acquired knowledge of vendors/suppliers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Organizational skills to meet project deadlines.
- Flexibility to work with other ProSpace Interiors employees and assist other departments as required.
- Hold a valid CO driver’s license with a clean driving record.
