The Position: AI Engineer
We are seeking an AI Engineer to drive innovation and automation across Prospect’s operations and our portfolio of 120 companies. You will design and deploy advanced AI and machine learning solutions to streamline processes throughout the firm, from back-office operations and investment committee workflows to other internal functions. You’ll join a lean, fast-moving team within our larger organization, providing you with agility, resources, and significant opportunities for impact. This position can be based in-person in either New York or remotely on the West Coast and involves close collaboration with teams across the firm—investment, operations, finance, and beyond—to develop AI-driven tools and solutions that enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Automate Core Processes: Develop AI-driven automations for quarter-end processes, data collection, and various investment sub-processes, reducing manual work and driving operational excellence.
- Build & Refine Models: Design and improve internal AI models to support valuations, risk assessments, and operational decision-making across our extensive portfolio.
- Portfolio Company Optimization: Work directly with the C-Suite of Prospect’s 16 wholly owned portfolio companies to use automation to improve profitability at these firms.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with investment, back-office, and other internal teams to identify and solve complex challenges using AI and data science methods.
- Data Analysis & Insights: Provide actionable insights derived from large data sets—informing fundraising, marketing, and strategic initiatives across the firm’s multiple verticals.
- Process & Systems Integration: Ensure seamless implementation of newly built tools and systems within existing infrastructure, providing training and support to stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
- Self-Starter & Innovator: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a track record of tackling open-ended problems with minimal direction. You have an ownership mentality and can take complex projects from start to finish.
- Technical Expertise: 3-5 years of professional development experience. Strong Python, SQL, and data manipulation skills are essential. Familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn is a plus. Experience building projects using AI models is a plus.
- Financial Aptitude: Experience in an investment firm, structured finance, or private equity is beneficial but not mandatory. A desire to learn and adapt to financial applications of AI is crucial.
- Automation Mindset: Proven ability to build end-to-end solutions, automating complex processes and integrating with various APIs and systems.
- Web Development Experience: Comfort with RESTful API design and front-end frameworks is preferred, enabling seamless product deployment and integration.
- Project Management: Adept at juggling multiple projects in a time-sensitive setting while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Team Player: Exceptional communication skills, enabling you to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Join us to be part of an entrepreneurial, high-energy team dedicated to pioneering AI-powered solutions in the world of alternative investments. Here, you’ll have the autonomy to shape innovative projects, collaborate with top talent across the firm, and see your ideas come to life in real-time.
Location: This role is primarily in-person at our New York office. Candidates may work remotely if based in the West Coast.
