Description
SUMMARY:
The Van/Bus Driver is responsible for the transportation of individuals between the park district community center or designated pick-up location and program sites.
The Van/Bus Driver's work schedule will vary based on program participation and necessity. Work hours may range from very early in the morning up until midnight, depending on the needs of the program.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
The Van/Bus Driver will report directly to the Supervisor of Recreation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Driving
2. Transferring and transporting of individuals.
3. Occasional transports of luggage for special trips.
4. General paperwork.
5. Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Assisting with programs and special events.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Must be able to function under loud and stressful conditions.
2. Must be sensitive to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Will be exposed to gasoline and engine fluids.
2. Will be exposed to cleaning agents for the van.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Will be exposed to outside conditions.
2. Will have to drive in all weather conditions.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Must demonstrate good safety awareness and judgment.
2. Must be able to follow traffic directions and traffic rules.
3. Must be able to follow directions from supervisors.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License for at least 1 year.
2. Must be 21 years old.
3. Must successfully pass a drug test.
4. Driver must take an online PDRMA Defensive Driving training class.
