SUMMARY:
The Concessions Stand Staff are responsible for the operation of the pool concession stand & special event concession stands.
The Staff are responsible for performing the essential functions as outlined in this analysis. The Staff are part-time employees who work hours and dates as agreed upon by the Supervisor of Recreation.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
The Concessions/Special Event Staff will report directly to the Recreation Supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Interest in food service
• Hard worker
• Must be comfortable standing for long stretches of time
• Excellent cash handling and change making skills required
• Must be able to perform tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Available to work a variety of hours on weekdays and weekends, including holidays
• Desirable previous experience and training
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Compliance with Illinois Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
• Prepare and clean up all supplies and materials needed in the concession stand/program each day.
• Complete other duties or jobs as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
• Preparation of food to include hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, sodas and more.
• Food service including taking the prepared item and packaging for consumer.
• Point of sales including taking orders, ringing sales into register, collecting money and giving correct change.
• Providing quality customer service.
• Following cash handling policies and procedures.
• Assist with district-wide special events.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The Staff must resolve differences and problems that arise with inventory, supplies and participants. The Staff are responsible for a clean, safe and well-organized concession stand/program. The worker may also have to work under stressful situations when first-aid or CPR is required.
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Able to respond to the needs of children under the age of 15 years old.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
May be exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions.
PAY RATES:
Starting at $15.00/hr

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a minimum of 18 years old. Equivalent experience in a similar program working with food and beverage. Work with preschool, early childhood or school age children is a plus. The ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with program participants and their parents.
Demonstrated ability to properly interact with children during activities. Knowledge of supplies, materials, room items and instructional tools required for each program or event. Must be AED/CPR certified. Must pass Food Handlers Certification and Allergy Sensitivity training.
