SUMMARY:
The Performing Arts Counselor is responsible for supervision of camp participants, direct daily camp operation, and to provide a positive recreational experience for children of all ages.
The summer camp counselor position is a seasonal, part-time position. Must be flexible to work between the hours of 7am-6pm, Monday- Friday, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, supervise, and participate in all pre-determined summer camp activities.
- Assist with gathering all pertinent supplies for daily activities.
- Interact with campers and encourage participation in camp activities.
- Assist with pre-season lesson planning for crafts and games.
- Make recommendations for changes and improvements in the camp program when necessary.
- Maintain a good working relationship with campers, community, and other staff members.
- Supervise a group of children and perform routine headcounts.
- Act as a positive role to campers.
- Exercise safe work habits.
- Serve as a communication link between the campers and their families.
- Complete other duties as indicated by the Camp Supervisor.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:
Recreation Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist and teach various Performing Arts including scripting, assist with auditions, set design and choreograph for Performing arts camp.
- Teaching performing arts classes and play production to a wide range of ages.
PERFORMANCE:
Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Assisting with programs and special events.

- Worker must be able to function under loud and stressful conditions.
- Worker must be sensitive to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Able to respond to the needs of children of all ages.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Worker will be exposed to inside conditions.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS:
- Worker must demonstrate good safety awareness and judgment.
- Worker must be able to enforce performing arts procedures.
- Worker must be able to follow directions from supervisors.
PAY RATES:
Starting at $16.00/hr

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A proven record of Performing Arts participation
- Any education relating to performing arts, performances and instruction is preferred
- Must be a minimum of 16 years old
- Must be CPR/AED & First Aid certified or the ability to obtain prior to start of camp.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to lead age-appropriate camp activities.
