What are the responsibilities and job description for the Literacy Teacher for Summer Learning Program position at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School?
Prospect Hill Academy Charter School is looking for qualified teachers to support literacy intervention in our July Summer Learning Program.
The student program will run from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, Monday - Thursday from July 7- July 31. Teacher hours will be from 7:50 am to 1:00 pm (planning time included). Teachers will be responsible for planning and delivering effective small group math instruction for 2 differentiated small groups of students over the course of the morning (80 min per group). Students will be grouped based on identified needs. Teachers will also run a grade level homeroom with a partner daily from 8:00-8:30 am (10-12 students), including a brief morning meeting or advisory. Teachers will also be responsible for overseeing the lunch and dismissal routines..
Orientation dates:
- (2) 90-minute virtual sessions, June dates TBD
- (1) In-person session, 8:00 - 3:30, June 23rd
- Demonstrated track record of effective small group literacy instruction
- Ability to analyze student learning data collected from daily instructional work, in order to monitor progress and adapt teaching
- Ability to develop positive and supportive relationships with students
- Ability to communicate with families about progress
- Understanding of the key role foundational skills development plays in literacy learning in K-3
- Strong understanding of how to teach phonics using a multi-sensory, sequential approach
- Experience and/or license in literacy intervention
- Familiarity with FUNDATIONS and/or Orton Gillingham
- Familiarity with DIBELs a plus
