Prospect Schools seeks a dynamic Middle School World Language Teacher to join our community of educators. While the position is open to all world language specialties—such as Spanish, French, and Mandarin—we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in Mandarin language instruction.
This teacher will teach one world language to students in grades 6–8. As a key member of our academic team, you will design engaging, culturally rich lessons that build fluency and cultural understanding, empowering students to become global citizens.

Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. As a teacher, your salary is determined by both years of teaching experience and postsecondary education. The salary range for this role is from $63,960-$102,450.

Responsibilities
- Teach multiple sections of one world language (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, or French)
- Develop and implement engaging, level-appropriate lesson plans rooted in language acquisition best practices
- Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with the principal, department chairs, and colleagues to iterate and improve curriculum
- Create a warm, structured classroom culture with high academic and behavioral expectations
- Encourage student voice, agency, and cultural exploration
- Communicate regularly with families to support student growth and engagement
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Education or a related field preferred
- NYS certification in a World Language strongly preferred
- Fluency in the target language (Mandarin, Spanish, French, etc.) and proficiency in English
- Prior teaching experience, particularly in middle school, is a plus
