Primary Purpose:
Effectively support campus leaders and direct the planning, organization, administration, leadership, innovation, and management of schools. Provide coaching and leadership to principals and collaborates with district office teams to ensure successful student outcomes, best practices, innovation, operations, and other services.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree in Educational Administration
Mid-management/principal certification (required)
Superintendent certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of effective leadership strategies, student services, human resources, curriculum and instruction, operations, school business, and finance
Knowledge of the integral components and relationships that comprise effective schools and demonstrated skills in supervision to facilitate success and improvement in schools
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to coach others to support growth
Ability to effectively navigate and manage conflict
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
Experience:
Successful principal experience (5 years preferred)
District-level administrative experience (preferred)
Instructional and Program Management
1. Provide leadership as a member of a collaborative team to connect departments with the district to campuses for improved student achievement.
2. Model leadership behaviors and explain the reasons behind decisions and actions.
3. Create an environment of collaboration and trust with campuses and other departments within the District.
4. Assist building principals through a program of continuous assessment for the purpose of school improvement and monitor the progress of schools towards established goals.
5. Coordinate and ensure the successful integration of evidence-based strategies to support the growth of all campuses.
6. Support principals in establishing and sustaining effective schoolwide professional learning communities (PLCs) by: assisting in designing and implementing structures and systems for collaborative team practices; monitoring and providing feedback on the alignment of PLC goals with campus and district objectives for teaching and learning; and encouraging the use of data-driven decision-making processes within PLCs to inform instructional practices.
7. Work with the appropriate administrative staff to ensure the safety and welfare of students while participating in school programs or on their way to and from school on transportation provided by the district.
8. Support principals in fostering and sustaining a positive school wide culture by: coaching them on strategies for teacher recognition, professional growth opportunities, and team-building initiatives that enhance morale and teacher retention; promoting practices that celebrate student success and encourage inclusive participation from families and staff, and providing tools and strategies to address and mitigate challenges that impact teaching and learning environments.
9. Assist principals in creating systems and structures that support the vision of the District.
10. Monitor the condition of physical assets, including the neatness and cleanliness of the buildings, grounds, and the safety, security and state of maintenance. In addition, monitor the repair of buildings, grounds, furnishings and equipment, except to the extent that responsibility has been assigned to a department of the district.
11. Guide and direct building level administration to work cooperatively with the curriculum division in meeting the curriculum and instructional goals of Prosper ISD.
12. Build the leadership capacity of principals through coaching to support growth regarding instruction, data analysis, aligned interventions, community, and culture.
13. Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs within the guidelines presented by the district.
14. Assist campus leadership with the development of appropriate budgets.
15. Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
16. Guide the development of positive attitude of staff toward the students and parents, toward other staff, the schools, the district and its programs.
17. Follow all the rules, regulations, and policies of Prosper ISD and follow directives from the supervisor.
18. Perform other functions that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor.
19. Demonstrate a high level of professional and personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards.
20. Provide leadership at the District level to build, sustain, and effectively lead elements of leadership development programs for personnel aspiring to grow into different positions.
21. Provide District support to new principals and administrators in their beginning years.
22. Serve as a District liaison between the District and third party entities.
Policy, Reports, and Law
23. Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in curriculum and instruction area.
24. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
25. Approve annual school plans and monitor individual school programs to ensure compliance with approved plans and all federal, state, and local requirements impacting those programs.
Personnel Management
26. Assist in the selection of assigned campus principals and clerical staff and evaluation of their job performance to ensure effectiveness.
27. Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions for assigned employees.
28. Collaborate with others to make recommendations for the employment, assignment, and transfer of principals and assistant principals. In addition, collaborate with others on the training and development of relevant professional growth for principals.
29. Guide and direct the professional growth activities for new and aspiring leaders.
Communication
30. Provide for an effective two-way communication channel with staff, district employees, media, community and school board.
31. Work collaboratively with campus administrators and parents to resolve conflicts by establishing and maintaining professional relationships and open communication.
Community Relations
32. Articulate the district's mission and goals to the school and community.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the hiring and termination of assigned staff.
