Primary Purpose:
To plan, develop, and implement a professional learning program that supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the District; To collaborate with departments to establish design and implementation of on-going professional learning.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree (required)
Principal Certification (preferred)
T-TESS Certified Appraiser
Valid Texas Teacher Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge and understanding of professional learning best practices
- Knowledge and understanding of adult learning methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of change processes, project management, strategic planning, organizational development, and facilitation skills
- Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Minimum three years of campus or district administration leadership required
- Strong evidence of experience in developing, leading and collaborating to deliver innovative professional learning to employees at various levels of the organization
- Experience in designing, implementing, or supporting professional learning plans at the district or campus level for new teachers, new administrators, professionals and support staff
- Experience in collaborating with district staff to develop and implement new learning opportunities
Major Responsibilities:
Instructional and Program Management
1. Support in developing and implementing a year-round, comprehensive professional learning plan and calendar.
2. Work collaboratively with other departments to develop and communicate professional learning content and schedules for district curriculum and instruction PL calendar days.
3. Lead comprehensive project management for a wide variety of district initiatives.
4. Support district career leadership pipeline programs at all levels.
5. Plan and coordinate new teacher onboarding events and pre-service learning needs in collaboration with Academic Services and other departments.
6. Develop a plan and calendar for annual TEA compliance training, including communication and monitoring completion, as well as supporting departments with specific needs.
7. Implement a professional learning evaluation system to monitor and evaluate professional learning.
8. Collaboratively develop a plan to provide professional learning opportunities for paraprofessionals serving in various roles.
9. Collaborate with Human Resources in employee recruitment and retention to support and create new ways to support paraprofessionals in obtaining teacher certification.
10. Support campuses in developing and implementing quality professional learning.
11. Ensure campuses are meeting T-TESS requirements and support appraisers to ensure all are appropriately calibrated to the district’s standards.
12. Support the PISD Leadership in implementing short and long-term district goals.
13. Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of the District and follow directives from supervisor.
Budget and Inventory
14. Oversee the development of preparation, and administration of the professional learning budget to ensure that the department is cost effective and managed appropriately.

15. Compile and maintain reports, records, and documents related to the language programs.
16. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.
17. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the administration and/or supervisor.
18. Follow district safety protocols. Supervisory Responsibilities May supervise other employees as assigned.
