Preferred Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies, Marketing, Business Management, Event Management, or a related field.
- Experience in working with various organizations and groups on the promotion and scheduling of public events, including experience of administrative responsibilities, preferred.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
- A valid Texas Class C driver’s license is required.
- Successful completion of an MVR check is required.
Any combination of relevant experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and skills is acceptable, including equivalent experience in place of a degree.
Under the general supervision of the Recreations Manager, the Event Specialist works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public to deliver effective and innovative events and activities. This position’s focus is assisting in the implementation and supervision of events, but will also be involved in assisting with recreational, social, and educational programs and activities for citizens, and will assist in seeking sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
