POSITION PURPOSE
The Junior Letter of Credit Specialist performs all daily functions associated with the preparation, review and monitoring of Letters of Credit while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and Prosperity Bank policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with lenders, borrowers, all other bank staff, attorneys, correspondent banks and Letter of Credit beneficiaries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Prepares, reviews, and assembles new Letter of Credit documents as well as renewals and modifications to existing Letters of Credit. Letters of Credit structures can include secured and unsecured as well as Letters issued under lines of credit, auto-renewable Letters, attorney prepared, and those that may be participated or syndicated
- Monitors auto renewable Letters of Credit and processes non-renewal notices within the timing requirements
- Reconciles core system to monitoring spreadsheets and maintains such spreadsheets accurately
- Works with Correspondent bank systems when required to issue, renew or modify Letters of Credit
- Utilize LaserPro software to prepare loan documents as well as other bank templates maintained in MS Word or Excel
- Reviews attorney prepared documents to ensure accuracy with Loan Approval Worksheet (LAW) such as sub-limits for L/C issuance, etc.
- Determines proper loan system coding (e.g., product type, collateral codes, call codes, etc.) and onboards loans and Letters of Credit on the core system
- Completes Quality Control of system onboarded loans and Letters of Credit
- Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of Prosperity Bank policies, procedures, guidelines, and philosophies
- Follows all compliance policies and procedures, state and federal laws governing all aspects of Commercial lending and Letters of Credit
- Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as required, assigned or directed

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School graduate or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred
Required Knowledge:
Loan Documentation preferred
Experience Required:
Prior experience in a financial institution preferred
Organized, Attention to detail, Ability to multi-task, Interpersonal, Oral and written communication skills, Ability to read, interpret, and respond professionally to internal and external correspondence, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
