As a Lead Technician, you will play a crucial role in the advancement of our operations, serving as the primary point of contact for job quoting, parts ordering, technician coordination, and technical support. This position is designed for a motivated technician looking to transition into a managerial role within our commercial division. You will be responsible for overseeing fieldwork, providing training, and ensuring high-quality service delivery
**Key Responsibilities:
1. **Job Quoting and Estimation:**
- Walk job sites to assess customer needs and provide accurate quotes for services.
- Collaborate with clients to understand project specifications and requirements
2. **Parts Management:**
- Order necessary parts and materials to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain inventory levels and manage supplier relationships
3. **Technician Coordination:**
- Schedule and coordinate field technicians for job assignments.
- Ensure that technicians are equipped with the necessary tools and information for their tasks
4. **Technical Support:**
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to technicians over the phone and in the field.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime
5. **Training and Development:**
- Conduct training sessions for technicians, focusing on best practices and safety procedures.
- Mentor less experienced technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge
6. **Field Work:**
- Participate in fieldwork as needed, demonstrating hands-on expertise in various trades.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
7. **Commercial Transition:**
- Assist in the transition of services to the commercial side of the business.
- Develop relationships with commercial clients and understand their specific needs
**Qualifications:
- Proficiency at a journeyman level in the following trades:
- Gates and gate operators
- Hollow metal doors
- Automatic doors
- Storefront doors
- Commercial glass and storefront systems
- Access controls
- Overhead doors and motors
- Dock deals and various equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is a plus.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
