What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Collections Specialist position at Prosperity Behavioral Healthcare Consulting LLC?
We are a third party billing company that handles revenue cycle management for behavioral health providers across the country. We are looking to add Medical Collections Specialists to our team that have SUD/MH experience. Must have OON/INN insurance experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and analyze patient accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of billing information.
- Utilize medical coding knowledge (ICD-10, ICD-9) to assign appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures.
- Process claims for reimbursement from insurance companies and government programs
- Follow up on unpaid claims and denied payments, identifying and resolving any issues or discrepancies.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing inquiries and disputes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and billing information.
- Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or collections.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, DRG coding, and medical office procedures.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.

REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
