Summary / Objective
- Responsibility and accountability for the purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the Company’s operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
- Managing purchasing strategy, policies and development of category plans for HR, MRO and IT.
- Responsible for confirming supplier readiness at launch and supporting management of build out platforms.
- Ability to lead and direct reports to drive towards performance targets.
- Overall budget responsibility, along with reporting out results.
STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENT
Contribute to the creation and implementation of the best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.Essential Functions
Ensure that purchasing policies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market.Ability to interpret contract language and work with legal to ensure organizational risk is addressed.Create and review opportunities to implement best practice purchasing policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance and deliver best value and business savings.Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop purchasing risk monitoring system.Experience with global procurement in purchasing from international vendors.Ensure purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents are in place and updated when required.Implement supplier managed inventory program, and supplier selection and performance program.Lead department restructuring activities to improve company's competitive advantage by developing commodity experts moving from tactical to strategic procurement.Work closely with Supplier Development to understand supplier performance, delivery and ppm.Manage a group of diverse component buyers, while purchasing automotive components for manufacturing division.Lead a corporate initiative to develop best practices for the purchase and management of MRO items.Drive standardized work by developing procurement policies and processes to include creation of templates / tools for the buyers as well as operations staff.Develop and implement request for proposals (RFP) aim at delivering target cost savings and quality services.Build and manage the strategic planning, KPI, annual material cost budget, and department budget.Drive cost savings mind set within purchasing department to maximize cost savings opportunities to meet / exceed annual savings goals.Develop supplier selection process to ensure proper vetting of national and international suppliers.Negotiate and manage contract terms with suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards and delivery terms with technical and operational input from stakeholders and colleagues.Work with suppliers and have a process in place to measure effective performance, quality and compliance.Ensure professional and consistent supplier management is applied across the supply base in line with the Manufacturing Services Agreement and SQAM.Must be able to create and maintain effective internal relationships.Confirm material components are sourced in full and aligned to production schedules and customer requirements.Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.Travel both domestic and international.PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Must be available to work as necessary to achieve the desired results.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor Degree in Business, or equivalent education or experienceMinimum ten (10) years of experience in direct / indirect purchasing functions or equivalent work experienceMinimum ten (10) years of negotiation and quoting experienceGood supervisory skillsStrong analytical skill and problem solving abilitiesKeen attention to detailProven experience in a purchasing management role, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environmentContract management and supplier experienceProject management experienceComputer literate, with emphasis in ExcelGood people, organizational, and communication skills; both verbal and writtenAAP / EEO Statement
