The Senior Product Manager has the opportunity to define and drive the commercial, product development, and business development strategies for Bio-Techne’s flagship Simple Western product line, a unique and rapidly growing product family which is the only fully automated western blotting solution on the market. The Senior Product Manager joins a high growth and dynamic business unit within the Analytical Solutions Division at Bio-Techne.
As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for defining our new product development pipeline and strategy to achieve our growth targets and executing our strategy for target customer segments. You will be gathering voice of the customer and conducting market research to identify customer unmet needs, proposing solutions and working with the development teams to develop and bring these products to market. Responsibilities include all aspects of lifecycle management, from new product introduction to product line rationalization. As the business owner, the Senior Product Manager will be responsible for identifying target markets, translating customer needs into product offerings (new and/or enhanced), developing product positioning, pricing, and working with regional partners to develop and implement the commercialization strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Define the product development roadmap including defining new product concepts, quantifying the market and revenue potential, and representing the BU with senior leadership to justify investment in critical projects to achieve business goals.
Work with the product development teams throughout the product development process, managing the launch of new products and ensuring business and financial goals are met.
Work effectively with extended teams such as program management, R&D, operations, engineering, customer service, sales, and FAS teams to ensure successful launch of new products and success of on-market products.
Work with product marketing team to develop strategic market plans for specific segments, including identifying and understanding target customers and their unmet needs, understanding barriers to adoption, and developing methods to address, understanding competitive situation, and developing ways to differentiate Bio-Techne’s product offering.
Conduct product sales training to relevant sales and marketing teams, globally
Track competitive offerings across target markets, including potentially disruptive technologies.
Responsible for profit and loss of the product line. Includes ability to develop financial models to support business proposals.
Responsible for developing business cases, product requirements for any newly proposed product or business direction.
Represent voice of the customer on product development teams
Keep current with market needs through customer visits, conference attendance.
Responsible for defining product offering, developing price, promotion, and placement for all products within the portfolio to meet business targets.
Maintain competitor profiles, including pricing, positioning, advantages/disadvantages, and marketing activities/strategy.
Prepare and present in quarterly Business Reviews to the management team.
Meet quarterly and annual revenue, profitability, and margin goals.
Education and Experience:
A Minimum 3 years of product management/product marketing experience in diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare. Demonstrated marketing experience with physician and/or patient personas.
Education – BS degree in Life Sciences, preferably Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry; advanced degree (master’s or PhD) in any of these disciplines or business preferred.

Strong aptitude in product/customer/sales/ financial analysis which will lead to defining successful strategies and launching outstanding products.
Ability to translate customer requests into addressable customer needs for a product/solution.
Ability to handle sensitive and proprietary information with discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to travel Approximately 30% travel, including international.
